What We Do

We champion slow fashion in the creation of items that reduce environmental impact, ensure fair wages, and improve the quality of life of artisans without the dehumanisation resulting from fast fashion sweatshop conditions and massification.

EMPWRMNT is a global movement combining sustainable slow fashion with a purpose, founded by Sustainable Fashion Designer, Nathalie Ballout, and co-founded by Human Rights Expert Jamaica Noferini.

Challenging the idea of clothing, we create upcycled handcrafted pieces of wearable art, deconstructing and reconstructing pieces – each unique to its owner.

We work primarily with denim, in collaboration with local artisans from minority or disadvantaged communities around the globe while our processes are showcased through a series of mini-documentaries. This ensures that sustainability and transparency are at the heart of our every collection and, most importantly, that our pieces become an informative outlet for our customers, as well as providing brands with an alternative to sweatshops. Being transparent and educating on it represents the first step towards holding other brands accountable for the environmental degradation and human rights abuses they cause.

We strive to create limited items with inherent value and, by documenting the process that goes into the creation of each item, we shine light on the wonderful artisans that have handcrafted them, in an effort to give them new possibilities for the future. We are committed to preserving tradition, which is why every year our signature mini-handbag will be highlighting a diverse cultural specialism.

With the belief that our struggles do not represent nor define our identities, our long-term goal is to create a recognisable brand that becomes synonymous with supporting movements for social and environmental issues across the globe.
